The Ferrari 166 MM Barchetta, by Carrozzeria Touring is one of the absolute landmarks in modern automobile evolution, following designer Felice Bianchi Anderloni’s dictum ‘Weight is the enemy, and wind the obstacle.’ From 1948 onwards, the Barchetta, or ‘little boat’ would gain worldwide notoriety with racing victories at Le Mans, Spa, and the Mille Miglia. It was the first automobile to give fledgling constructor Ferrari a recognizable ‘face’ to present to the world, and the rest, as they say, is history.
