“Le Mans, 1953”, by Michael Turner

(1988)

The monumental 24 hour race at Le Mans was particularly hard-fought in 1953 with the factory Jaguar C-Types basically outlasting their competitors and running them into the ground. In Michael Turner’s print, the winning Jaguar of Duncan Hamilton and Tony Rolt is seen blasting through the Esses, hotly pursued by the Ferrari 375MM Berlinetta of Alberto Ascari and Gigi Villoresi. The C-Types went on to finish 1-2-4 in what for Jaguar would become the advent of a glorious future in international motor sport. Print is signed by Duncan Hamilton, Tony Rolt, and the artist, and is #480 in an edition of 850 worldwide. Print is framed in black, brushed metal Neilsen frame with anti-reflective glass, and measures 21 ½ x 18 inches. This fine print makes a perfect companion piece to Turner’s “Le Mans, 1959” also available from Aeromobilia.
